RaceDirector Garage

In this article, I’ll show you how you can chose between different vehicle types in the TrackDay app. To select different vehicles RaceDirector TrackDay we have introduced a garage for cars and motorcycles.

Garage for Cars and Motorcycles

Which and how many vehicles should be available in the app? We thought long and hard about how we can tackle this challenge. If we only provide one vehicle, then there is no issue because the user has no choice. If it’s so, it’s not really “exciting” for the user. The other way around, we can logically not integrate all vehicles and brands – would be nice, but is unrealistic.

The compromise is that we have chosen vehicles from the best known brands and different continents. We use vehicles from this 3D graphics manufacturer:

It turns out these 3D models work very well in RaceDirector – it’s a mixture of good performance and good looking. If you discover a vehicle from this manufacturer that you like, then we can integrate it in RaceDirector.

RaceDirector Garage for Cars

Motorcycles are a bit more difficult as there is no supplier that has matching models for RaceDirector. Here we have to search the 3D graphics databases like TurboSquid and hope that we find a suitable model. The adaptation to RaceDirector is then a bit more complicated than for cars.

If you are looking for a garage for karts, then we have to put you off. Currently there is no garage for karts.

Selection of Car and Motorcycle

With 25 cars and 5 motorcycles in RaceDirector to choose from, there is also the option of defining a vehicle while uploading. In the picture below I show you how it works:

• After you have uploaded your position data, you can edit your data under “My Files” (= “Edit”)
• In the pop-up window, you can enter the following vehicles under “Vehicle brand”:

The vehicle you entered will be used in RaceDirector. If you do not choose one, we use the standard vehicle For car it’s the KTM XBow and for motorcycle we use the Honda CBR.

Of course, we will simplify this process. In the future, there will be uploading in selection menu.
